  • Please provide the dead loads, and the longitudinal and diagonal wind loads of the bridge.
    The loads are included in the original plans, 099-9901 orig 1900.pdf, Sheet No. 1343-15 (20 of 62 in the pdf), which can be found in the Additional Information folder. (09/15/2023)

  • The pay item list and scope of work table shown on sheet 7 calls for item Z0076700 Trunnion Bearing Grease Groove Cleaning. This is also shown on sheet 8 of the drawings and on page 32 of the specs under basis of payment. The pay item is not found in the list of pay items on the website or the downloadable spreadsheets. Will this pay item be added to the list of unloadable pay items?
    The Department has issued an addendum. Please refer to the website for the addendum. (09/13/2023)

  • The plans require magnetic particle testing be performed on the trunnion and pinion shafts and that the trunnion and pinion shafts cannot be rotated when the bearing caps are removed. Will the magnetic particle inspection scope be confined to the exposed portion of these shafts (i.e., the top half of the circumference)?
    Magnetic Particle Inspection of the trunnion shafts shall be limited to exposed portions of the shafts which are accessible. For the pinion shaft, performing magnetic particle testing for the full circumference is required. It is anticipated that the pinion shaft lower circumference which may normally be inaccessible, will be accessible when the lower pinion bearing bushing is being replaced. (09/11/2023)

  • The plans state that magnetic particle testing be performed on all existing bearing bushings. It appears based on the specifications that the existing bearing bushings are bronze which is generally not magnetic. How will this contract requirement be fulfilled if the bushings are not magnetic?
    Dye Penetrant NDE testing may be used as an alternative to magnetic particle testing for the existing bearing bushings. (09/11/2023)

  • There is a current question/answer that says to contact Clarence Harrington for a site visit. It is now our understanding contacting Clarence is not acceptable and the only way to visit the site is through a contractor pre-bid site meeting. Please clarify if a contractor pre-bid site visit will be scheduled, or if individual contractor scheduling is allowed.
    A Prebid meeting will be held on site Wednesday (9/13/2023) at 10 AM. (09/08/2023)

  • Can IDOT make the existing structure drawings from the reference drawing key on plan sheet 3 available for review?
    The Department is in the process of compiling the requested information and will post it to the additional information folder on the website. Contractors should monitor the website for the updated information. (09/08/2023)

  • Please provide contact information to schedule a prebid site visit of the existing machinery rooms.
