The table indicates that the Max allowable RAP is “0%”. The IDOT Standard Specs refers to Asphalt Binder Replacement (ABR) and allows up to 30% ABR for an N30 Surface mixture using RAP and up to 45% ABR for a N30 Surface mixture when using FRAP.
Will RAP and / or FRAP be allowed per the IDOT Standard Specs?
RAP and / or FRAP is normal for IDOT mixtures. Mixes with “0% RAP” are not typical and most contractors will need to design specifically to meet this spec.
Maximum RAP% will be as specified in Article 1031.06 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. An addendum will be issued. (09/19/2023)
