  • Being the existing 28” pipe culvert is located in the vicinity of a prior slope failure, did the Department perform any investigative inspection(s) of the existing 28” pipe culvert extending from the existing inlet at STA 26+31 to confirm the condition and joint alignment of the 28” pipe culvert to ensure the proposed 24” Culvert Liner can be feasibly installed? If so, can the information resulting from the inspection(s) be provided to the bidders?
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. Refer to Section 543.03 for the construction requirements. (04/17/2024)

  • The fifth paragraph of Special Provision, SLOPE EXCAVATION, states in part: The second and fourth paragraphs of Article 202.08 of the Standard Specifications will not apply. Unsuitable earth excavation and all rock excavation shall be wasted offsite, and the removal and disposal will not be measured for separate payment. Please clarify the intent of these sentences and how they specifically apply to payment for Rock Excavation and Removal and Disposal of Unsuitable Material contract pay items.
    An addendum will be issued to address this question. Please continue to monitor the website. (04/17/2024)
