  • It appears that the new H.T. Cable Rail System posts will be placed in earth median in lieu of a bituminous mow strip. Will Gibraltar's driven post system be acceptable?
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (04/04/2024)

  • On sheet 38 of the plans under General Note #4 it states the Concrete Overlay shall be followed by tining with a mechanical operated comb. We are unable to source a mechanical operated comb made to run on rails for bridge decks. Also, is tining to be performed Transversely? or Longitudially? Please clarify the intent of the General Note.
    The intent of General Note 4 is to create a finished concrete surface similar to that produced by bridge deck grooving (Standard Spec 503.16 b.). However, the texture is allowed to be formed into the plastic concrete through the use of a metal comb/tine. The grooves created by the comb/tine are to be installed transversely. (04/04/2024)
