  • The lane rental specification is a little ambiguous. Does the lane rental charge cover all lanes? There could be potential of 16 lane rental per day. 8 lanes on IL Route 3 and 8 lane on 20th St. If this is the case, the total charge per day would be $160,000 per day. Would the incentive work the same way? Please advise.

  • In the removal plans it shows trees in the median. Do you anticipate any tree removal on this project? We don't have a line item for it, but if there were tree removal to do or if they were incidental, we would need to get those out prior to April 1st.
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. Any revisions or omissions of bid items will be handled in construction according to Section 109 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. (11/08/2023)

  • Are there any restrictions on hours of operation? This project is adjacent to a residential area
    There are peak hour restrictions in the special provisions if they choose to do any work under a lane closure rather than a full closure. Lane closures also count towards their 30 calendar days for closure of the road. (11/07/2023)

  • There is not a line item for an electrical service installation. Should a new electrical service installation be included with line item 85704804?

  • In the plans on the traffic control sheets, it does not show how IL 3 will be closed. There is a listed pay item for a single lane closure included in the pay item X7010216, however NB is 3 through lanes with 2 turn lanes, and SB is 2 though lanes with a turn lane. Can further details be provided on how this work is to be accomplished for an accurate bid?
    IL 3 will be closed using type III barricades NB & SB per the special provisions. The special provisions state the work is to be completed in 30 days and allows for complete closure and use of a detour, but also a single lane closure may be used within the 30 days if required. (10/30/2023)

  • The detour details shows where IL 3 NB will be closed, but not where IL 3 SB will be closed. Can a detail be provided as to where IL 3 SB will need to be closed at, as it appears that it will need to be closed at Rock Rd, but there is a sign at this location that states 1/2 MILE.
    IL 3 SB should be closed at Rock Road. There should be type III barricades blocking all lanes at this location. (10/30/2023)

  • The joint plan at the ends of the paving does not have transverse lines. Is the intent for these sections to be CRC? We do not see anything indicating CRC, but it looks like that could be the intent in those sections. We would appreciate clarification on what type of paving you would like to see at the ends of the project.
    There are three pay items, 42101020, 42101030, and X4211080 Wide Flange Beam Terminal Joint Complete of the different sizes depending on the width of the pavement at the location, which cover the pavement at the end and beginning of the project to tie into the existing CRC pavement.   • The special provisions call out for the road closure to be between the dates of July 1, 2023 and September 15, 2023. Since this is being let in November please advise if these dates are to be followed for the 2024 season.
    The dates are for the following 2024 season. An addendum will be issued to correct this. Please continue to monitor the website for an update. (10/30/2023)
