If the Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) is required to have a master control unit, is IDOT willing to accept an APS that utilizes wireless technology?
The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications published online. A wireless APS unit is not acceptable and is not included in the special provisions because of concerns with operation, security and reliability. (07/20/2023)

Is IDOT willing to approve an Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) without a central master control unit?
To maximize monitoring and operational capabilities of the District's advance traffic signal system, the specified 2-wire APS, with central control unit located in the signal cabinet, is required. (07/19/2023)
