  • Traffic Control: Special Provision page 4 (a) states “All work will be accomplished using standard lane closures on I-57”. Lane closures are only allowed during non-peak times. (night work) Please confirm that any work NOT requiring a lane closure can be performed during normal daytime hours utilizing 701101-005 or 701106-02
    Any work that does not require a lane closure can be done during normal daytime hours as long as any material delivery does not impede traffic. (06/05/2019)

  • There is a special provision that allows the uses of cones as channelizing traffic at night. The standard for 701401-12 does not state that cones can be used as devices outside of the taper. Does this Special Provision allow for cones to be used on the interstate, during the night, to channelize traffic after the taper?
    No. This special provision is inserted into all contracts utilizing traffic control and protection. It provides clarification on the use of cones for channelizing traffic during nighttime operations and allows the use of cones taller than 36 inches. Highway Standards 701206, 701502, 701602 and 701901 were revised accordingly. (06/03/2019)
