  • MASH Tangent Terminals: Please advise if the tangent terminals will be required to be MASH approved that will be attaching to NON-MGS guardrail systems. IF yes, please add a pay item for Vertical Adjust GR, 25 LF per MASH terminal, to transition from the MASH terminal down to the NON-MGS guardrail.
    The current Qualified Products List of Traffic Barrier Terminal, Type 1 Special (dated June 8, 2018), contains a Note regarding NCHRP 350 devices and MASH devices for the Traffic Barrier Terminal, Type 1 Special (Tangent). An addendum is currently being processed to address the transition from the MASH terminal down to the NON-MGS guardrail. (06/03/2019)

  • Guardrail Removal: Special Provision pages 27 and 28 state that guardrail removal is ‘included’ with the pay items for TBT 1 Special and TBT 2 terminals making the guardrail INCIDENTAL to the terminal. There is also pay item 63200310 Guardrail Removal along with the SOQ within the plans which correlate with the pay item for guardrail removal. Please confirm, by addendum, that the guardrail removal will be paid with PAY ITEM 63200310 Guardrail Removal.
    The Department is in the process of issuing an addendum, please monitor the website for the addendum. (06/03/2019)

  • Schedule of Quantities Pay Items X6300215 Rail Element Plates and X6300217 Rail Element Plate Radius do NOT appear on the Schedule of Quantities, as a result, their locations are unknown. All of the pay items are sensitive to the various traffic control pay items. Please advise if they will only be utilized at ‘known’ locations while performing the guardrail upgrade OR provide locations and a special provision addressing when these items will be utilized.

  • Locations 15, 16 and 17: The existing guardrail posts are enveloped in a concrete sidewalk. Please confirm that PAY ITEM 44004250 Paved Shoulder Removal will be utilized to remove the concrete prior to placement of the prescribed Aggregate Shoulder Type B.
    The concrete sidewalk is not proposed to be removed or replaced. Bid according to the published plans and specifications. (06/03/2019)

  • Special Provision page 29 states that installing new posts will be paid for under the pay item "steel posts". This does not appear to be included in the schedule of quantities. Please add the pay item Steel Posts.
    The Summary of Quantities is correct. If there is no pay item in the SOQ, the Special Provision is not applicable. (06/03/2019)
