  • Concrete Pad: Standard Specification 643 states that the concrete base (pad) needed for impact attenuators are 1) included with the fully re-directive systems and 2) Sand Module system bases will be paid per SY for Attenuator Base. Q: in the absence of specific locations, shall we ‘assume’ that the existing base for any of the systems will be sufficient for the proposed system (meaning not included with any pay item) or will the base, if needed, be paid per Article 109.04?
    The scope of work is to repair/ replace existing attenuators and sand barrels over existing pads. Any repairs to the base would be covered under Art. 109.04. (06/05/2019)

  • Prosecution of Work (amended): What is the repercussion of not completing the work order within 7 days?
    The repercussion of not completing the work order within 7 days is defined in the published Special Provisions. (06/05/2019)

  • Prosecution of Work (2 of 2): Most systems require approximately 2-3 weeks to procure, after field conditions can be confirmed. Please review the 7 day requirement. Will IDOT allow additional time for the procurement of appropriate units and then, once received, begin the 7 day requirement?
    Contractors should bid the pay items according to the published plans and specifications and have enough material at hand to perform the work. (06/05/2019)

  • Prosecution of Work (1 of 2): Special Provision page 1 allows for 7 days to complete the work order after receipt of notification by the RE. This suggests that each type of impact attenuator is carried ‘in stock’ by the contractor. This is completely unreasonable, especially not knowing size, width, site specifics needed to order the appropriate unit.
    Contractors should bid the pay items according to the published plans and specifications. (06/05/2019)

  • Locations of work: Please provide a Schedule of Quantities describing the locations of these systems. Please confirm that the work described will only be the expressway system.
    No schedule is available. This is a Work Order type contract to be performed on the D1 expressway system. (06/05/2019)
