  • Was waterproofing membrane fabric installed on the concrete deck sections prior to overlaying with asphalt on the last paving project?
A waterproofing membrane system was installed on Spans 1 and 3 through 8 prior to overlaying with a bituminous concrete surface course in 1983. In 2002, the existing wearing surface was replaced with a 1¾" bituminous concrete wearing surface and the waterproof membrane was spot-repaired where required. The plan notes indicated that any membrane damage caused by the contractor’s removal procedures would be repaired at the contractor’s expense.
