Contract Specifics
A voluntary pre-bid meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 09:00 AM in the Cass Street Bascule Bridge Machinery Rooms and Tender House at 205 North Joliet Street, Joliet, IL 60432. Location Notes - Near the Intersection of Joliet Street and Cass Street. Meeting Description - The site meeting is for the purpose of viewing the machinery rooms and tender house.  No project information will be transmitted, no questions will be answered during the visit.The site visit begins promptly at 9:30 AM and will end at 11:30 AM.  Any contractors arriving after the 9:30 AM start time will not be allowed to participate in the site visit.

  • Are existing structure drawings available for review?
    The Department is in the process of compiling the requested information and will post it to the additional information folder on the website. Contractors should monitor the website for the updated information. (06/05/2024)

  • Drawing S-32 requires the sidewalk timber to be treated fur with Fb=1900psi. Lumber suppliers have said 1900 psi is impossible to get with fur or pine. The highest grade achievable for the 2x6 is Select Structural, and the highest grade achievable for the 4.25x4.25 is Dense Select Structural. Is this acceptable? Thank you.
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. Any revisions or omissions of bid items or materials will be handled in construction according to Section 109 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. (06/03/2024)

  • Item X5210006, LIVE LOAD BEARING, on the plan summary of quantities calls out 4 each. The specs call for them to be paid by the each. The import/export sheet from iCX and the base items shown on iCX calls for the Live Load Bearings to be 1 L SUM. Please confirm the unit to bid. Thank you.

  • Mission Critical Solutions based in Alum Bank PA purchased the LB Foster Grid Deck Buildings, Fixtures and Inventory as of Jan 1 2024. Many LBF employees have moved to MCS. MCS requests approval to bid the grid deck on this project. MCS is an AISC certified Fabricator. We are also a member of the BGFMA. MCS has been building products for LBF for the last two years.

  • Will IDOT be setting up an on-site walkdown to have access to the machinery rooms prior to the letting?
    A site meeting, for the purposes of viewing the machinery rooms and Tender House of Cass Street bascule Bridge over the Des Plaines River, SN 099-0101, will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. The meeting location will be at 205 North Joliet Street, Joliet, Illinois 60432 (by the intersection of Joliet Street & Cass Street). Please gather at the meeting location at 9:00 AM.
