Bulletin Description

(4,823-feet) Bridge Rehabilitation / Bikeway: rehabilitation and modification of SN 016-0194 and SN 016-0195. Widening of the existing west side concrete sidewalk for bikeway, bridge joints replacement/ repair, deck hydroscarification, repair and overlay with latex modified concrete, approach slabs and substructure repairs, median removal, guardrail, pavement markings and all incidental and collateral work necessary to complete the project. Located on IL 1 (Halsted Street) over IHB Railroad and over CSX Railroad within the Village of Riverdale, in Cook County.

  • Parapet Railing: The bridge plans sheet 71 calls out 782 LF of 1379 LF. Please advise where the balance of Parapet will be installed along with appropriate details illustrating the additional location(s).
    The parapet railing is also installed on top of the Concrete Barrier Wall (Special). Please refer to Superstructure Details 3 (Sheet 70) under “Concrete Barrier Wall (Special))” for the locations reflecting the balance of the parapet railing. Also refer to the Proposed Roadway & Bike Trail Plans (Sheets 20 and 21) for the limits of the Concrete Barrier Wall (Special) and Bridge Structure modifications. (06/04/2024)

  • If the intent is to complete the project in one construction season, can the schedule of 80 working days be extended to the IDOT average of 112 working days per year.
    The Department is in the process of issuing an addendum, please monitor the website for the addendum. (06/04/2024)

  • Some of the work at the Piers are located close to the existing railroad tracks below. What provisions have been made with the RR to allow the tracks that are closest to the piers to be taken out of service to allow for the substructure and steel repairs to be completed?
    IDOT performed extensive coordination during the design phase with CSX and its consultant, Alfred Benesch. The substandard horizontal clearance issue was discussed heavily and IDOT sent a formal letter to CSX informing them of the following regarding this issue can be found in the Additional Information Folder on the website.   • There does not appear to be any track crossings to allow access to the piers below the bridge. Will the RR provide the track crossings?
    CSX typically does not allow temporary crossings to be constructed to accommodate contractor's access. Contractor should review CSX's Public Project's Manual prior to bidding. Use the link below for further information on temporary at-grade crossing and other important material. Furthermore, please refer to Article 107.10 of IDOT's Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction for more information on this issue. (06/03/2024)

  • The IDOT website today indicates that the project is now 110 working days. Is an addendum going to be issued?
    The Department is in the process of issuing an addendum, please monitor the website for the addendum. (06/03/2024)

  • Can the as-built structure drawings be provided?
    The Department is in the process of compiling the requested information and will post it to the additional information folder on the website. Contractors should monitor the website for the updated information. (05/29/2024)

  • The first time this project was let, it had 100 working days, now it has been reduced to 80 working days. It will be difficult to complete all of the work under 4 separate traffic stages. Can Stages 1A & 2A be combined and done concurrently? Then can Stages 1B and 2B be combined?
    Combining Stages was not approved by D-1 Traffic Control Staging Unit. The Department’s goal is to minimize disruption of traffic and impact to the traveling public. Based on this, the working days for the project have been set so that the project is completed in one (1) construction season. (05/29/2024)
