  • Based on your answer to the previous question about the Type 1 Special Tangent. The shortest terminal on the IL QPL is 46'10.5" and they are all proprietary. No manufacturer allows the substitution of a radius panel into their system. Does this mean you want a non approved TL-2 End terminal to be installed with the a radius panel immediately after it?
    As defined in Article 101.09 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, the bidder shall inspect in detail the site of the proposed work and investigate and become familiar with all the local conditions affecting the contract and the detailed requirements for construction.   • The Ty 1 Spl. Tan (Modified) Terminals state to radius 12.5' of the Terminals per sheet 6 of the plans and page 6 of the Special Provisions. The Type 1 Spl. Tan Terminals are not tested or approved to have any portion radiused. IDOT may want to add 12.5" of radius SPBGR Type A at these locations and then install the TY 1 Spl. Tan Terminals as designed. Please advise.
    The pay length for the TBT Ty1 spl (modified) on the plan is 50' long total, shown with a combination of 37.5' of straight section and 12.5' of radius. Since the length of the terminal varies depending on the manufacturer, we expected this could be assembled more than one way, such as a 50' long TBT Ty1 spl terminal with one piece of the guardrail shop curved, or a shorter TBT Ty1 spl terminal, with 12.5' of short radius guardrail attached.
