  • Per the plans it calls for HMA RM OV PATCH 8" with HMA REPL OVER PATCH. The typical show there is only 6.75" of existing HMA over the PCC Pavement. The plans state to mill the pavement first at 3.75", then Patching areas will be laid out, leaving the existing milled pavement only 3" depth over the existing concrete. Please explain the intent of the patching items, since the pay items do not match what is on the typical sections as it relates to depths of pay items.
    The Core Report has average HMA thickness that will allow for 8" of HMA removal & replacement. The sequence is to do the 8" HMA removal and replacement over patches, come back and do the 3.75" HMA surface removal, and then do the resurfacing. An addendum will be issued to reflect this.   • Can a schedule please be sent out for the locations and quantities of Incidental Hot-Mix Surfacing for the commercial and private locations?
    The locations and quantities of the commercial and private entrances are on the resurfacing plan sheets. (06/06/2024)

  • What is the desired length for butt joints? On Sheet 11 the Butt Joint Schedule references 5' of Roadway but states a 30' or 15' butt joint. The Temporary Ramp detail on sheet references a 5' pay limit for butt joints however the butt joint detail on the same sheet references 30' or 15'. Please advise
    When calculating the pay item quantity for Butt Joints, 5ft length was used because the detail lists that the Butt Joint pay item shall only be paid for up to 5ft. The actual Butt Joints lengths are either 30ft or 15ft, depending on if they're along the main arterial road or the side roads, respectively. For the schedule, we transferred over the data from the pay item quantity calculations, which had the station ranges matching the 5 foot pay limits, the required lengths were noted in the last column of the schedule based on if they were on the mainline or a sideroad.   • Is there a special provision for the solar powered flashing beacon? Where are the plan sheets showing the location of the solar powered flashing beacons, the color of the beacon, mounting, etc.?
    An addendum will be issued to address this. (05/31/2024)

  • Is the entire quantity of Incidental Hot-Mix Asphalt Surfacing (241 TNs) to take place in the same locations as the Hot-Mix Asphalt Removal Special locations? Or will it be for other locations as well?
    The 241 tons of Incidental HMA is for resurfacing the 10 Commercial Entrances and 7 Private Entrances only and not the HMA Removal Special locations. (05/31/2024)

  • Where is the 10,315 SY of Geotechnical Reinforcement taking place?
    The intended use for the geotechnical fabric is for the Class B patches. AN addendum will be issued to adjust the quantity. (05/22/2024)

  • Follow up, as has been done on most lettings can a 9.5 n50 be used in lieu of an 9.5 n50 FG for the shoulder surface. Please have D2 materials respond to this question as this is a rather vanilla subject.

  • Would District 2 materials be on board with giving the contractor the option of using a IL9.5 N50 in lieu of a IL9.5 N50FG on the shoulder surface?
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (05/20/2024)
