  • Most of the Vertical Adjust Guardrail locations have existing C posts along with not to standard Guardrail. Does IDOT want to consider completely replacing these locations with new Guardrail that has approved posts and standards?

  • At Str. 057-0242 the Guardrail Schedule calls for SPBGR Type A to go from the bridge to the Ty 1 Spl. Tan. Type A cannot attach to the bridge. Are the existing Bridge Terminals to remain and the Type A quantity reduced at this structure?

  • In the Guardrail Schedule, every location that calls for Vertical Adjustment of Guardrail also calls for 2 new Traf Bar Term TY 1 Spl Tan. There is no Guardrail Removal listed at these locations. Should there be Guardrail Removal of existing End Terminals added to contract to allow for connection of New Terminals. If so, the Vertical Adjust quantities would need to be reduced at these locations.

  • The Special Provision for SPBGR (SHORT RADIUS) states that shop drawings must be provided for this item. It has been standard practice to take additional material and various radius panels to modify in field as necessary to make a non-typical radius as shown in these plans. Shop drawings would involve field surveying before detailing drawings, which would add a few thousand dollars or more to the Short Radius pay item. Can the provision for shop drawings be deleted?
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (03/31/2026)
