  • Bicycle Railing, Bridge Fence Railing, Stair Railing, they get paint only or they get galvanazing only
For railings on the bridge and approaches, Sheet 108 of the Addendum A plans states "All posts, rail, splices, anchor devices, and plate of the railing shall be painted according to Section 506 of the Standard Specifications." Color is indicated on Sheets 68 and 69. For all railings and stair painting information, see Sheet 66. (04/14/2026)

  • On the pay items you listed: X5091725 – Bicycle Railing (Special) X5091730 – Bridge Fence Railing (Special) I wasn’t able to find any reference to the curved Bridge Fence Railing. Is that scope included under the bridge contractor’s responsibility, or is it part of one of the items listed above? If so the total feet do not add up
Sheet 107 states that the "Bicycle Railing, Curved" cost is included with "Pedestrian Truss Superstructure" and includes details of this curved railing on the truss span, along with Sheet 108 of the Addendum A plans. The "Bicycle Railing (Special)" which is the 4'-6" railing and "Bridge Fence Railing (Special)" which is the 6'-0" railing are located on the non-truss portions of the bridge and approaches. The limits of these railings are indicated by stationing below the "Section Thru Slab" details on Sheets 105 and 106. The post spacings of these railings are indicated on Sheets 59 and 60. (04/14/2026)

  • Please clarify material and finish requirements for Pedestrian Truss Superstructure. If bridge is to be fabricated from AASHTO M270 Grade 50 steel, what finish is required?
Sheet 61 states that the bridge truss shall be painted black. Included in the contract specifications is GBSP 33 "Pedestrian Truss Superstructure", which specifies the painting system to be used. (04/14/2026)

  • Regarding the 20 Ornamental Metal Panels - plans are not clear as to the location or description. Special Provisions do not exist for this item which seems unusual. Where and what are these panels?
Sheet 70 of the plans detail the "ELEVATION - COLUMN CAPITAL SIGN" which account for 4/20 sign panels, 2 on each of Pier 14 and Pier 17. Sheet 63 notes that they should be erected on both sides of piers 14 and 17. Sheet 71 of the plans detail the "SIGNAGE - MOUNT PROSPECT LOGO" which account for 16/20 sign panels. Sheet 63 intends to show this on each side of the ‘Precast Ornamental Pier Cap’ on main span bridge piers 15 and 16. The Contract Special Provision for this work is included under the ‘Furnish and Erect Sign Panel’ SP. (04/14/2026)

  • How is the flexible conduit being installed into the bottom rail going to be terminated at each access point?
The contractor shall coordinate a proposed design with the railing fabricator and submit to the Engineer for approval per Note 1 on Sheet 54. (04/08/2026)

  • X6640560 CLF 6’ SPL: Appreciate the direction to SP 98 providing location and PVC Black noted. Please confirm this fence will be installed per IDOT Standard 664001-02. This standard is noted on plan sheet 2. Thank you
The contractor shall follow the contract special provisions and install item X6640560 per IDOT Standard 664001-02, as noted on plan sheet 2. (04/08/2026)

  • The project BOM's that list Concrete Structures from plan sheet 104 through sheet 129 do not total the Concrete Structures 682.8 in BOM on sheet 77. Please confirm concrete structures project quantity of 682.8 cy is correct.
Concrete Structures project quantity of 682.8 CY is correct. Addendum A will include revised Sheet 124 updating Pier 16’s Concrete Structures quantity 112.9, which results in the sum of Concrete Structures quantities shown on sheets 104-129 adding up to 682.8 CY. (04/08/2026)

  • Chain Link Fence and Gates around gravel as called out on plan sheets 42, 43 and 46. (3 areas) How does this get paid? As for the detail on plan sheet 46, this calls out 6‘ CL Fence with High Security 1” Mini-Mesh and 2” OD top & bottom horizontal rails. So very unusual for this application. Very expensive too. Standard IDOT fence would more than suffice. Please add clarity to this scope, including configuration/layout and how it is paid.
This work is paid for with pay items 66400305 (fence), 66402700 (gate), and K1001969 (gravel mulch). The purpose of the detail is to enhance aesthetics given the aesthetic intention of this project. (04/08/2026)

  • 66400305 Chain Link Fence 6’ and 66402700 6x4 SGL Gate: Where are these pay items located and please confirm that these fence systems will be standard IDOT galvanized fence & gates, where ever they may be located. It is ‘essential’ that the configuration is known so appropriate quantity of INCIDENTAL end and corner posts can be included.
Chain Link Fence, 6’ (66400305) shall be used under the approach abutments and under the stairs. This fence is detailed on sheet 46, and labelled on sheets 42 and 43. We are using a standard item with the plan detail highlighting any differences from the highway standards. Fences are intended to be black. Chain Link Gate 6’x4’ Single (66402700) shall be used under the approach abutments and the stairs. This gate is detailed on sheet 46, and labelled on sheets 42 and 43. We are using a standard item with the plan detail highlighting any differences from the highway standards. Gate assembly falls back to IDOT Std. 664001-02. Work with Engineer on a final location to gates. (04/08/2026)

  • X6640560 CLF 6’ SPL: Plan sheet 21 calls out this fence system. There does not appear to be a special provision or plan details for what makes this special. Please confirm that this fence system will be installed per IDOT Standard 664001-02, ASSUME Galvanized, along with what, if anything, makes this special.
CHAIN LINK FENCE, 6’ (SPECIAL) SP is located on page 98 of the contract special provisions. Fences are intended to be black. (04/08/2026)

  • X6640298 CLF SPL: Spl Prov page 97 calls out 48” Black PVC coated fence, including one 10’ width double gate. This gate appears to be INCIDENTAL. Gates typically have their own pay item, as is the case on this project, for a different pay item. Please issue addendum and provide a pay item for 4’ high x 10’ double swing gate (10’ opening)
The gate shall be included in the contract unit price per foot for CHAIN LINK FENCE (SPECIAL), as described in the contract special provisions. The baseball fence is intended to be paid for in full under pay item X6640298. (04/08/2026)

  • Contract Plans Sht S-36 Note 1 refers to Section A-A on sheet S-36 - the same sheet. Note 2 refers to sheet S-36 for the section thru railing at truss - the same sheet. S-36 does not appear to provide what is referred to in these notes. Please provide this information.
An addendum will be issued. Please continue to monitor the website for an update. (04/06/2026)

  • The notes on Contract Plans Shts S-34 and S-35 for the Bicycle Railing (Special) state that "For Anchorage Assembly details, see Sheet S-36...." Sheet S-36 does not seem to have the intended details. Please provide the anchorage assembly details.
An addendum will be issued. Please continue to monitor the website for an update. (04/06/2026)

  • Per Note 1 on Sheet 54 states the conduit and cables are to be within the bicycle bottom rail. Since the information is not provided, what voltage is the bridge walkway lighting? Please advise if the bottom rail HSS 3X3X1/4" can be used as an electrical raceway and how a conduit or cables will able to be installed continuous without interruption between each light? This would also require the bottom rail to also have access door at each light with a removable door. Please provide door detail.
The contractor shall detail routing of conduits and cables through the bottom bicycle rail (HSS 3X3X1/4) via flexible conduit for review and approval by the Engineer, as noted on Sheet 54. Sheet 54 details an Access Point/Junction Box at each light location but intentionally does not give specifics for the access door. The contractor shall include the detail of access points as part of the routing plan for review and approval by the Engineer, as noted on Sheet 54. (04/06/2026)

  • Reference Contract Plans Sheet 134 & 135 - the soil borings shown are the exact same information shown twice. Please provide the missing boring information for Borings 1 & 2.
An addendum will be issued. Please continue to monitor the website for an update. (04/06/2026)

  • Reference Contract Plans sheet 126 - the BOM is blank. If information was to be shown, please provide this.
An addendum will be issued to address this question. Please continue to monitor the website for an update. (03/31/2026)

  • Sheet 63 & 70 of the contract plans provide architectural details of the precast ornamental pier caps. Specifications and a method of payment for this work do not appear to be provided in the contract documents. Please provide this.
An addendum will be issued to address this question. Please continue to monitor the website for an update. (03/31/2026)

  • Please provide a design for the size and type of conduit, boxes and wiring being installed on the Structure. Provide details and dimensions on the conduit and junction boxes being installed between the deck and rail.
Vertical conduit shall be embedded into the piers, as indicated on Sheet 55. Type and size of the embedded conduit is shown on Sheet 55. The exposed conduit for the connection between the abutment and bridge deck is included in the cost of 'Pedestrian Bridge Lighting System' and the location is shown on Sheet 54. Type and size of the junction boxes are shown on Sheet 55. The junction box shown on Sheet 54 shall be 'Junction Box, Stainless Steel, Attached to Structure, 6" x 6" x 4".' Cable for the Pedestrian Bridge Lighting System circuit shall be #12 and is included in the cost of 'Pedestrian Bridge Lighting System'. Per Note 1 on Sheet 54, the contractor shall propose the connection detail between the deck and bicycle railing.
