  • Reference Note 6 on Sheet 23. The note states “(...) Place Timber Blocking at locations where diaphragms are removed.” However, the Framing Plan on Sheet 24 shows some areas where Timber Blocking & Diaphragm Removal is required and other areas where only Diaphragm Removal is required (For example, existing Pier 3). Please confirm timber blocking is only required at the 12 EA Locations shown on Sheet 24 and not at all locations where diaphragms are removed.

  • Reference Spec Section “Temporary Shoring and Cribbing” on Project Specs Page 16. Spec says “For cribbing to be installed inside the concrete barriers, under travel lanes, the cribbing shall be designed for the Dead Load plus the full (Live Load + Imp)”. Reference Sheet 36 in the project plans. No Dead Load, Live Load, or Imp loads are given for temporary shoring and cribbing locations. Please provide the Dead Load, Live Load, and Imp Loads for the 12 EA temporary shoring and cribbing locations.

  • Reference Stage 1 Detour shown on Sheets 7 and 8. Sheets indicate Pershing Road will be detoured to complete construction work. Please indicate if this is a long-term detour (24 hours, multiple days in a row) or if it is a nightly detour only.
    Please refer to sheet 8 for the detour duration and this is intended to be a full bridge closure, including day and night work as required. (07/22/2026)

  • Reference Sheet 27. Will IDOT require temporary lane closures when engaging shoring towers/cribbing or can this be performed with live traffic on Pershing Road?
    Installation of the steel shoring towers will not require lane closures. Installation of the proposed cribbing or timber blocking to support the joints is recommended to occur during the full bridge closure; however, it does not require a lane closure.” (07/22/2026)

  • Reference Sheets 23. It appears that pay item quantity for Furnishing and Erecting Structural Steel is 61,340 lbs. However, Takeoff of Sheets 28, 29, 32, and 37A shows approximately 47,000 lbs. Please clarify location of additional 14,000 lbs of Structural Steel.

  • Note 1 on Sheet #6 states that barrier wall remains in place and becomes permanent until contract 62K61 begins. Is the wall then returned to the previous contractor or is it sold to contract 62K61? Is traffic control expected to stay out until new contract begins, if so who is responsible for maintenance?
    All proposed features shown on the Roadway Plans (Sheet #6) are to be considered permanent upon completion of the project and will be the Department’s property and not returned to the Contractor. All signing and similar appurtenances associated with construction staging, including Detour Plan, are temporary, and are to be taken down by the Contractor and property of the Contractor upon completion of the project. Upon completion of Contract, the Department will assume maintenance of all elements shown on the Roadway Plans, with any future state contracts or work accounting for any demolition, changes, or modifications.   • The note states the wall stay until the next project takes over. What about attenuators, traffic control. Will the next contractor swap out and this equipment returned?
