  • Please provide the "AS BUILT' drawings for Location 38 as was requested in the first question.
    The available plans have been provided. Location 38 does not have any available plans at this location. Prospective bidder are encouraged to inspect in detail the site of the proposed work, investigate and become familiar with all the local conditions affecting the contract and the detailed requirements for construction.   • Please provide ‘AS BUILT’ drawings for Location 32: SN 040-3106 and Location 38: SN is not identified in the plans. This will help all to understand what the existing bridge rail is as compared to the new Steel Bridge Rail Type SM. In prescribing SM Rail, IDOT certainly has reviewed re-using existing anchor embeds and post spacing for compatibility of both existing and new rail systems.
    The available AS BUILT drawings will be posted as Additional Information. (05/31/2022)

  • General Note 10 on plan sheet 2 states all guardrail removal to be salvaged and delivered to Jasper Cty HD. Spl Provision page 4 for GR Removal and GR Removal SPL direct the disposal of the guardrail. Please advise what is required, disposal or salvage Jasper Cty HD
    General Note 10 on the plan sheet is correct. The County would like to salvage guardrail. Therefore, all guardrail removed shall be salvaged and delivered to the Jasper County Highway Department. (05/31/2022)

  • Short Radius: Special Provision page 4 directs the use of Guardrail A and posts as shown in the plans and as directed by the engineer. (potentially 3 different variants) The detail on plan sheet 35 calls for a 4th type of radius guardrail. Radius Guardrail Type A using steel posts is most common. Please eliminate the guesswork and add clarity to this pay item.
    Steel Plate Beam Guardrail (Short Radius) shall be per the detail on sheet 35 of the plans. (05/31/2022)

  • General Note 5 states that ‘Guardrail Post that need to be driven through existing HMA shoulders will not be paid for separately but shall be included in the cost of SPB Guardrail.” This suggests that it is ‘acceptable’ to ‘drive the post through the shoulder’, as opposed to coring a hole and then driving the post into a cored hole. Please confirm this is a correct interpretation of General Note 5.
    The intention of General Note 5 is so that the Contractor understands there will be no additional compensation for placing Guardrail at locations when HMA shoulders are present although it is more tedious to construct. Contractor should still construct Guardrail per standard practice of coring a hole so that the HMA shoulder is not damaged when placing the new guardrail. (05/31/2022)

  • DBE: IDOT website for ITEM 129 in Jasper County shows 0% DBE. Special Provision page 28 shows 9% DBE. It is customary for jobs like this to be 0% in light of the fact experienced DBE guardrail firms will also be bidding on this project. Please confirm the 9% noted in the Special Provisions is a typo and should be amended by Addendum to 0%.
    The DBE Goal for this project is 9.00%. The website will be update to reflect 9.00%." (05/26/2022)
